原木しいたけオーナーの皆さん、しいたけ菌打ち体験を楽しんでいただきました ~Owners of Shiitake Bed Logs Enjoyed Striking the Fungus Pieces

April 8, 2018

Shiitake mushroom (Cortinellus shiitake) is an important food material which supports the Japanese food culture.

Matsutake mushroom is so delicious and popular, but so expensive that it's not a material everybody can enjoy. On the other hand, shiitake mushroom is the most popular one of all the mushrooms in Japan, which is eaten all year round, used in the cooking not only for regular meals but also banquets on ceremonial occasions. Especially particular is the deliciousness of shiitake cultivated on the bed logs of oak tree.

We 'Auberge Fujii Fermier' provides our guests with the occasion of ownership of Shiitake Bed Logs, harvesting the mushroom in winter season, and joining several events held all through the year.

This time 6 people have become the owners.

Now the time cherry blossoms are blooming is the best for striking the fungus pieces to a raw wood. You drill holes on the log and strike the fungus pieces into them. After that, those logs are laid in the bamboo woods and spend over 18 months there to sprout out.
Everyone said they could hardly wait for the day.
